Simpson and Walsh do the double at Hawkstone Park

Shaun Simpson dominated both MX1 motos at Hawkstone Park to get some sort of revenge on a painful double DNF at Desertmartin at the previous round.

But Tommy Searle did a good job of damage limitation. Working his way from fifth to second at the end of moto one, and then starting and finishing second in race two, meant he only lost six points on the day and is still very much in the driving seat for the championship with a 49 point lead and just two rounds to go.

It was a good comeback from injury for Harri Kullas, who took third on the podium while Jake Nicholls took fourth overall after a come-from-behind ride to eighth in the first moto and a fine third in race two in his first British championship race of the year.

Jake Millward continued his strong season with fifth while Irishman Jason Meara took a strong seventh in his debut Maxxis British championship ride for the Phoenix Tool Apico Kawasaki, replacing the injured Gert Kestinov.

In MX2 it was all about Walsh v Ostlund in a Revo Husqvarna show! Walsh led race one but Ostlund put in some great laps toward the end, sometimes two or three seconds a lap faster than Walsh, only to come up one second short at the flag. In race two Walsh lead the whole moto again with Ostlund going with his teammate but unable to find a way by.

Josh Gilbert was third best one day, not quite going with the front two while Martin Barr once again didn’t get away well and had to work his way into fourth both times out by which stage, the leaders were long gone.
