Sanayei out for the season!

Sanayei out for the season!

Darian Sanayei had been recovering from a knee injury and tried to make his come back at Matterley Basin for the ninth round of the MX2 World Championship.

However, the weekend didn’t go to plan and his knee couldn’t hold up under race conditions. The American will now undergo surgery to come back stronger in 2019 in what will be his last year in the MX2 World Championship.

You’d think that Steve Dixon will look for a replacement rider to contest the MX2 World Championship for the rest of the season so it’ll be interesting to see who he picks up.

Sanayei posted the following update on social media:

Well this past weekend definitely didn’t go as planned! Speed was still good even with the injury. Just in race conditions my knee isn’t holding up, which is a bummer but it’s just something I needed to do and try. I tried my best and I did all I could. I think the best thing to do at this point is go get surgery to be ready for next season. Champions don’t obsess about what could have or would’ve happened, they focus on where they are now and how to prepare for the future. So that’s what we are going to do Huge thank you to everyone in my corner @rayarcherphoto #DirtyD
