Former Ulster motocross champion Robert Hamilton has announced his retirement from the sport.

The holeshot machine, now 31, who has had a great career in Ireland and was a former leading British youth competitor, will now turn his attention to helping young riders in the sport.

Hamilton announced his retirement on social media:

Hi folks as the 2019 season is coming to an end on the injuryed list again,which is part and parsell of the sport. I have loved every minute of it and we’re has the time gone,i have a lot of friends,family’s & mates to Thank,for being behind me 100% though out my racing career..

I have thought long and hard about it and had a thought a few years ago how I was going to keep my hand in the sport and offer my services,with 26 years racing experience, I have had over the years.. Now 31 years old & we a bun in the oven I Think it’s time to hang the boots up and start full time helping the up and coming future in our motorsport for 2020 hopefully starting winter Academy soon..
