Quick thoughts: MXGP of Germany

  • F&H fall out: The biggest talking point from the MXGP of Germany wasn’t the racing, it was Henry Jacobi and what he done to his team mate, Adam Sterry. The German took his team mate out and then after the race the pair had a few words and Jacobi ended up punching the Brit. It’s pretty crazy considering team mate’s and the team won’t be happy with the German’s behaviour.
  • Rut city: The track crew ripped the track deep which meant a lot of ruts. Perhaps there were too many ruts as some straights even had them which made it hard to pass. However, the track was really technical with plenty of braking bumps. A much better and challenging track from Latvia and Russia.
  • Huge crowd: There was a huge crowd at Teutschenthal this year and it was much busier than the last GP there in 2018. Clearly having Henry Jacobi ride so well must have helped bring in the crowds.
  • More injury victims: Ben Watson, Mitch Evans and Julien Lieber all picked up injuries during the MXGP of Germany to already add to a big injury list. Something to think about when Indonesia won’t have a massive line up of riders.
  • MXGP still deep: When you consider the amount of injuries, the MXGP class is still really deep. It just goes to show the strength and depth of the class. The top ten were still all incredibly fast.
  • EMX125 hots up: With Tom Guyon winning the EMX125 overall in Teutschenthal and Guadagnini missing the podium, the championship gap is now down to thirteen points – anything can happen in that championship chase!
  • EMX250 – Three riders, one champion: 13 points separate the top three EMX250 riders. All three of Stephen Rubini, Alberto Forato and Roan Van de Moosdijk are having very good season’s but two of them will be left disappointed at the end of the season – who’s going to clinch the title?! It looks like it’s going to go right to the final moto of the season which is exciting stuff.
