Quick thoughts – Amazing Arco

Quick thoughts – Amazing Arco

  • The racing: Just amazing – Gajser and Cairoli went head to head all weekend long which produced amazing battles. The HRC Honda man ended up going 1-1 for a 50 vital championship points. The best GP of the year so far without question.
  • The track: The track was super technical which the best riders of the world should be racing. It was nice to see the riders have to struggle with the condition of the track – a mistake free race wasn’t easy.
  • Productive weekend for Prado: The MX2 World Champ came into the weekend 36 points behind championship leader, Thomas Kjer Olsen. The Spaniard went 1-1 and with Olsen having a bad weekend for his standards and not getting on the box, Prado is now only 20 points off the championship leader heading into round five.
  • The Causalities: Clement Desalle really wasn’t himself this weekend only picking up nine championship points. It’s now been revealed that the Belgian damaged the meniscus in his knee at Valkenswaard and has already had surgery. He hopes to be back at round five in Mantova. Calvin Vlaanderen was also through the wars at Arco as he requires surgery for a crack in his fibula. The HRC Honda man will be in a race against time to race Mantova in just over a month.
  • Debutante: Mitchell Harrison contested his first MX2 World Championship of the year. After a promising fifth in the qualifying race, the main races didn’t go to plan as he only picked up four points. He now has over over a month to prepare for the next round of the series.
  • The returnees: Iker Larranaga made his return to racing in the MX2 World Championship and had a good weekend. The Marchetti KTM rider went 11-18 but showed good speed in the first moto as he ran top five for over half the race. Benoit Paturel also made a return to racing in the MXGP class and ended up a solid fourteenth overall – he should only get better.
  • Can anyone stop Alberto Forato in EMX250? The Italian is looking great and now has four wins from four.
  • EMX125 – Guadagnini dominates. Despite not dominating the first round like some people thought he managed to dominate in front of his home crowd this weekend.
