Prado wins MX2 in Loket and takes the red plate!

Jorge Prado showed he has what it takes to be world champion by holding off a charging Thomas Covington to win moto two, clinch the overall and take the championship lead over Pauls Jonass by eleven points having come in tied in the title chase.

Prado said: “I got a good start, the holeshot. At the end of the moto I still had the power but the guy behind had a bit better flow. I wanted to take the win here and I am so happy with the red plate. We will see how it goes in Lommel.”

Calvin Vlaanderen rode superbly all day winning race one and passing Covington and Prado to do it. But a poor start in race two meant Vlaanderen had to come through the entire top ten to get to third, the Honda man admitting he used up to much energy to really charge the last few laps to catch the leaders, Covington and Prado.

Pauls Jonass got two average starts but almost passed Prado for third in race one but couldn’t the job done. In race two he moved up to third but then couldn’t keep the pace as Vlaanderen and then Olsen forced their way past. Jonass now doesn’t lead the championship for the first time all year as they head to Lommel in two weeks time.
