Jorge Prado showed the weight of the red plate on his no.61 Red Bull KTM machine was irrelevant after winning both motos at Lommel with ease.
The same couldn’t be said for Pauls Jonass who felt the pressure of trying win back the red plate and crashed in both motos to go 4-6 as well as incur the wrath of Henry Jacobi after the two came together a second Jonass came through the pack. Jacobi went down hard and confronted Jonass at the end of the race but Jonass just rode off ignoring the German’s anger.
The other star of the show was home hero Jago Geerts who came through to second place in a brilliant second moto and showed that both he and Prado could be the MXGP rivalry of the next ten years.
Thomas Covington was strong in both moto to go 3-3 for second overall.
Prado said: “It was a tough race, it’s always a really rough track, the main goal today was to stay consistent. I could handle the pressure of the red plate and I could exten the red plate and that is good for me!”
