Prado to continue with #61 in 2019

Jorge Prado has confirmed he will continue running #61 for the 2019 season. The Spanish sensation won the MX2 World Championship in 2018 and considered running the #1 plate.

Pauls Jonass ran the #1 in 2018 after winning the title in 2017 but having the pressure of having the #1 plate didn’t work for the Latvia.

Prado has hinted that if he ever wins the MXGP World Championship in the future that he’d consider running the #1.

“I’m going to stick with the #61 because I think I don’t quite deserve the #1. It’s for the guy in the next category, the highest category. One day when, if, I can manage it in MXGP then I’ll change”, Prado commented.

It’s interesting to see the 18 year old mention the MXGP class as in the past it’s been rumoured he could possibly head to America. It would be great for MXGP if he does stick around though as he could be the next guy to battle Jeffrey Herlings in a number of years.
