Young Dutchman Davy Pootjes has been bitten by the injury bug again despite a good season and will miss the remaining two GPs due to an ongoing muscle/nerve injury in his back.
Pootjes revealed the news in a detailed statement on social media admitting his goal of a top ten overall won’t happen but that he has been happier with his season and says the fire and enjoyment is back in his racing after getting the right people around him.
He also showed his motivation for the future by saying: “I am more than ready to amaze everyone in MX2 in the next three seasons.”

After many visits in the hospital it appeared that my muscles / nerves are damaged on my back and on my shoulder blade. So because of that I have not been riding since the second round in Indonesia anymore. Since Lommel I can fortunately train hard on my physical condition again. I do not have much pain anymore, but after a few minutes on the bike I have too little power to hold the handlebar, which creates dangerous situations. Again this year did not bring me what I worked so hard for. But I found myself back, the fun in riding and training and my fire is back. Currently I have missed 14 motos and I am still 11th in the World Championship, which means I showed some good results before my crash. Unfortunately I did not achieve my goal, but I am more than ready to amaze everyone in the mx2 class for the next 3 years. The fighter in me is back, I have gathered the right people around me and am grateful to everyone who has taken me so far since day 1! Unfortunately, I have to tell you and my fans that I will not race the last 2 rounds of this season, to focus on 2019 and to have my body recover. Special thanks to LRT and my mechanic for the trust and hard work they put in me this season! Shoot out to my supporters and fans who are there for me no matter what! And I'm really thankfull for all personal & team sponsors who supported me this season!🙏🏻 Soon more exciting news about next season. I can not wait to show what I have in me! You know what they say: What doesn't kill you only makes u stronger 💥
