Kemea Yamaha PR:
The French round of the world championship is always related to a great track and a fantastic atmospere from the crowd. The French fans are always ecstatic and cheer their national riders to another level. And so they did with Benoit in Ernée. With a third and a race win Benoit was so close to winning his first GP but left Ernée with great vibes!
On Saturday in qualifying the KEMEA riders showed their talents finishing all three in the top 6. Despite a small crash Benoit finished in second. Brent crossed the line in 4th place and Alvin rounded out the top 6.
On Sunday Benoit went to the inside of the first corner and had a decent start. He worked his way up from 6th to 3rd and managed to finish within reach of the leaders. Alvin and Brent were also in the top ten in the opening laps. Halfway through the race Brent faced some technical issues and was forced out of the race. Bad luck also hit Alvin as he too was forced out of the race with bike problems while he was in 11th.
In the second moto Paturel made the French crowd explode taking his first hole shot. He immediately got himself in a good pace and lead the race from start to finish. He won his first ever moto and finished second overall on the podium, missing the win by only two points.
In the championship he remains in fifth but gets closer to the rest.
Alvin was fighting for 10th position when he got together with another rider and lost some time. He crossed the line in 15th and got 19th overall. Brent had another portion of bad luck losing his clutch during the race. It got too dangerous to continue and Brent didn’t finish the race.
Benoit Paturel: “ I’m so happy with the race win! In the first race I got in third pretty fast but I couldn’t find some extra speed to pass the leaders. The second moto was awesome and I felt good. The crowd was amazing and winning the race was really exciting. This shows all the hard work pays off and I really want to thank my trainer, mechanic and everybody behind me. I also want to dedicate this to my mother!”
Alvin Ostlund: “ Saturday started really good with a sixth place in the qualifying race. I was riding good and was happy with the result. It was disappointing having to leave the race with technical issues two laps before the end in race 1… Also in the second moto I had bad luck when I crashed with a lapped rider while fighting for the top 10. I know the speed is there but I just need to put it into results. I’m happy with my riding though so I can’t wait to go to Russia for the next round.
Brent Vandoninck: “ Seems like lady luck isn’t on my side these weeks… A double DNF this weekend is really disappointing. The feeling on the track was really good though. In the first race I had the bike problems and in the second one I was coming back well after a bad start, but then the clutch was gone and continuing on a track like this was really difficult. Let’s keep working hard and look forward to the next one and keep the good feeling from Saturday!”
