Olsen breaks KTM dominance in MX2 – Geerts secures a podium!

During the 2017 season, Factory Husqvarna rider, Thomas Kjer Olsen won his only MX2 Grand Prix of the season in Latvia and he’s managed to win there again this year!

In the first moto, Olsen lead every single lap and won by over eleven seconds from MX2 World Champion, Pauls Jonass.

The second moto was a much closer affair with Jorge Prado getting a much better start. He opened up a commanding lead before taking a crash. When he got going again he had Olsen and Geerts for company.

Towards the end Prado could break away from the Dane who came under a lot of pressure from MX2 rookie, Geerts. Geerts just didn’t have enough to pass Olsen but came home in third after a strong fourth in the first moto which meant he secured his first MX2 overall podium – the future is very bright for the young Belgian.

The last step on the podium went to Pauls Jonass who was outside the top fifteen at the start of the second moto but he did well to come back up to fifth.

Olsen will be hoping this is the first win of many as we head to the hard pack in Germany next week.
