Dutch rider, Nino Dekker has secured a wildcard entry to contest the penultimate round of the MXGP World Championship at Assen this weekend. It’s a great opportunity for Dekker as he’ll be making his World Championship debut and get to race in front of his home crowd.
Dekker has improved a lot this year and had a good season contesting the Dutch Masters of Motocross. He saved his best round of the series at the final round which took place at the Zwarte Cross festival.. He finished fourteenth overall in the MX1 class which is a pretty good result when you consider the GP talent in the class and even Malcolm Stewart made an appearance that weekend. Dekker will hope to build on that result for the 2019 season.
However, this weekend he will be racing against the best 450cc riders in the world so he’ll just want to have fun and learn what he can from the best riders in the world.
Nino Dekker: “I have no expectations at all, I just want to enjoy the moment. It has always been a big dream for me. A mate that helps me with all this kind of stuff came up with the idea. That’s when I decided that I will give it my all. I’ve worked hard this year on getting better, yesterday I heard I can ride in Assen and I am just so freaking happy”.
