MXGP transfer rumours!

MXGP transfer rumours!

In MXGP Max Nagl announced that he was staying with the ICE ONE Husqvarna outfit for the 2017 season. People assumed that it meant Gautier Paulin wouldn’t end up on the same team but it does look like that ICE ONE will field three riders in the 2017 season. Max Anstie, Max Nagl and Gautier Paulin – that is one strong team.

Jeffrey Herlings has announced recently that he will stay with KTM until 2020. However, KTM still have a problem of where he will be placed for next year. There was a crazy rumour a few weeks ago that he could be under the HSF Logistics awning. However, it now seems that Davy Pootjes could switch to that team. If that does happen it would allow Herlings to stay under the MX2 awning with Pauls Jonass and Jorge Prado.

The future of the 24MX Honda team is currently up in the air at the moment. They don’t know if they will have a team next year. However, hopefully they find a way to get to the GP’s. If they did stop it would leave Damon Graulus and Ken De Dycker without rides for 2017. KDD feels he has unfinished business in MXGP and wants to remain the paddock next year.

Things are a bit of a mess over at Yamaha at the moment. It was rumoured that Wilvo could join forces with Steve Turner and run Tonkov with Simpson. However, we are now hearing that Steve Turner won’t run a team in the 2017 season and Wilvo will run a team by themselves with Tonkov and Simpson.  Things are also up in the air for Standing Construct and Tim Mathys at the moment, that is another team that we could lose for 2017. Valentin Guillod currently “has nothing for 2017”, Tim Mathys is thought to be keen to run him in MXGP for 2017 but again nothing is sure and Guillod could end up being forced to go to USA.

What does all that mean for Adam Sterry? It looks as though he will ride for Factory Kawasaki in the MX2 class with Petar Petrov and Stephen Rubini.

As usual plenty of rumours about who’s going where in MX2. Let’s start with the EMX250 champion. It looks like Thomas Kjer Olsen will join up with Jacky Martens at Rockstar Husqvarna, he will be team mates with Conrad Mewse and Thomas Covington.

Over at the Suzuki awning as Brian Hsu is definitely heading for America in 2017. Bas Vaessen is expected to partner Jeremy Seewer in the MX2 class. The team have also been linked to the talented Hunter Lawrence.

Darian Sanayei has already revealed that he will race the MX2 world championship for Dixon Racing team along with Vsevolod Brylyakov. Tommy Searle is also expected to stay with the team for 2017.

Making the jump from the EMX250 to the MX2 World Championship will also be Anton Gole, he will ride a Husqvarna but the details aren’t really decided yet.
