MXGP Results: Cairoli and Prado win Swiss GP qualifiers

Tony Cairoli passed long-time race leader Tim Gajser to win the MXGP qualifier after battling past Desalle and Anstie in the first half of a tough qualifying race.

Jeffrey Herlings went down in turn one after coming together with holeshot man Gajser and was forced to rip through the field. Herlings was flying and even went from eighth to sixth in the final lap, passing a frustrated Gajser who went from first to seventh in three puzzling laps.

In MX2 Jorge Prado led early before a fall allowed Hunter Lawrence, having maybe his best race of the year, to take the lead. But Lawrence returned the favoure to Prado, when he stalled the Honda, and handed the lead and the win back to the Spaniard!

Pauls Jonass came from eighth to fourth but got stuck behind Thomas Covington and couldn’t find a way through.
