The MX2 qualifying race at RedBud was exciting to say the least. German rider, Henry Jacobi took the holeshot and surprisingly led for the first 5 minutes. Plessinger was the rider to find his way around the German but Ferrandis and Lawrence quickly found their way into second and third respectively.
Nothing much separated the trio of Plessinger, Ferrandis and Lawrence but with a few minutes to go the American took a high speed crash putting himself out of the top ten.
Ferrandis threw his goggles away with a few laps to go with Lawrence all over him but the French rider just about held on to take the win.
MX2 World Champion, Jorge Prado ended up fifth but will be looking more during the main races tomorrow.
Brit, Ben Watson had a solid race coming home in seventh with Dutch rider, Vlaanderen finishing just behind Plessinger in eleventh.
Martin Barr came home in fifteenth in what’s been a solid day for Ireland so far.
Jago Geerts didn’t have a good race as he suffered from a crash and could only come back to eighteenth. Heading into the last qualifying race, Belgium and USA are currently outside the top nineteen so as it stands heading to the B-Final. Both will be looking big races from Justin Barcia and Jeremy Van Horebeek respectively.
