MXDN RedBud: Coldenhoff wins open qualifying race
When the gate dropped for the open qualifying race it was TM’s Max Nagl who took the holeshot for Germany. However, he made a mistake on the first lap which left Glenn Coldenhoff to take over the lead.
American’s Justin Barcia put the Dutch rider under some pressure at the start but Coldenhoff responded and pulled away. Towards the end of the moto, Coldenhoff threw his goggles away so Barcia edged closer. The smooth Coldenhoff stayed cool and calm to bring home the open qualifying race win.
Jeremy Van Horebeek didn’t get the best of starts but came back to third. Barcia and Van Horebeek’s good results mean that both Belgium and USA qualify straight through to the main event.
Max Anstie went down at the start but came back from dead last to ninth. Richard Bird came home in twirty-third for the Irish
