Millward and Spinks secure Matterley Basin MXGP entries

Two British riders have secured late MXGP World Championship wildcard entries for their home round of the series taking place this weekend.

Josh Spinks has good memories at Matterley Basin as finished second overall last year in the EMX250 series. Due to the age rule, Spinks is now too old to contest the EMX250 series but he will race the MXGP class on his 450cc MSR Redline Yamaha.

“The team and I made the decision during the off-season to do a couple of GP’s for 2019 and was a no brainer to try for the home race of Matterly basin. It’s my ideal track layout and had a really good race in the EMX250 last year finishing on the podium in 2nd. I know this is a much bigger challenge but one I have always wanted to do, so why not!?”, Spinks commented.

“There’s no real expectations I feel if I ride how I can, points are achievable although at this early stage of the year the field is extremely strong. I’m just going to give 100% and enjoy the moment for myself and the MSR Redline Yamaha team, against the big fish”, Spinks added.

Also joining Spinks in competing this weekend is Jake Millward who will race his first MXGP World Championship on his Chambers Husqvarna.
