Michael Sandner to make GP debut in Bulgaria

Young Austrian KTM rider, Michael Sandner has decided to give the MX2 World Championship a go this weekend in Bulgaria.

Sandner has been a regular in the EMX250 Championship this season and has shown some great speed at times. Speed hasn’t been the issue for him, it’s more consistency and dealing with bad starts which has been a problem.

In the EMX250 Championship, Sandner sits twenty-second in the championship but has missed a few rounds of the series, he’s certainly much better than twenty-second!

His best result of the season came in Matterley Basin as he finished 4-7 in the moto’s to end up fifth overall.

There is an EMX250 round taking place in Bulgaria this weekend but the Austrian has decided to contest the MX2 World Championship instead to race with the best 250cc riders in the world in what will be a new experience for him.

Michael Sandner: “I will ride the World Championship this weekend because it’s so far away and in the EMX250 Championship I’d only be out on the track three times and in the MX2 class it’s six times in a weekend. It’s better training for me.  Maybe in Imola I will also ride the MX2 World Championship. My goal in MX2 is to have good speed and learn a lot for the future”.
