Mewse IN for Weston Beach Race

Mewse IN for Weston Beach Race

RHL Activities is excited to announce that the most successful British motocross team, Hitachi KTM UK ASA, will be racing at the HydroGarden Weston Beach Race Powered by KTM on October 19-21 with rider Conrad Mewse.

MX2 star Mewse is a winner at the event in both the 65cc and 85cc classes, but the gruelling adult solo three-hour race is something new for the 19-year-old. It has been a stellar season in which Mewse has enjoyed strong results at World Championship level and the youngster looks set to win the MX2 British Championship, so the KTM-star will certainly be looking to conclude his year with a strong finish at the annual beach race event.

Unfortunately, 2017 MX1 British Champion and 2013 Weston winner Graeme Irwin, who also races for the Hitachi KTM UK ASA team, will not be competing at the beach. The Northern Irishman was relishing in the opportunity to line-up and do battle once again, but a broken scaphoid and dislocated wrist at the final round of the Motocross World Championship will leave Irwin on the sidelines this year.

Mewse will join the likes of Robbie Maddison, Billy Bolt, David Knight, and Todd Kellett who are all looking forward to the battle of the maddest, baddest and most bonkers race in the UK. With an expected crowd of 70,000 people, comprised with the festival atmosphere and plenty of off-track entertainment, it’s a family weekend not to be missed.

Conrad Mewse
“I did it as a junior in the 65cc (2007) and 85cc (2011) classes and I’ve won both of them, but I’ve never done the three-hour race. I’m looking forward to it, experiencing something new again to tick off the bucket list; I’m obviously going there to get a good result, but if I don’t then it’s just a bit of fun at the end of the day. I think it does take experience to get the win, you’ve got to be very smart when coming up to the lapped riders on where to go on the dunes and things like that, as obviously there can be hundreds of people in front of you. It’s a new challenge for me, and I can’t wait to get going.”

Gareth Hockey: Director of RHL Activities
“The Hitachi KTM UK ASA team has a long history in British motocross, and they have enjoyed a lot of success nationally and internationally. To have Conrad at the HydroGarden Weston Beach Race Powered by KTM is fantastic, and the competition this year in the solos will hopefully be a real spectacle. Conrad has won here as a junior, so he is a capable competitor with of course the speed from racing at international level. It will certainly make things interesting, and it’s great that the team will be at the event as part of the KTM Village. I’d also like to wish Graeme a speedy recovery – we’re disappointed he won’t be here later this month, but we hope to see him back next year.”
