Despite not having many hours on the bike coming into the season, MX1 rookie Jason Meara has had a fine start to the season.

Meara picked up a serious wrist injury which meant his winter preparation didn’t go as expected.  Despite that he’s been battling for race wins in the Ulster and Irish Championships.

He’s also been competing in the MX1 expert class in the MX Nationals series andhad his best weekend yet in Lyng winning all four races to grab the red plate.

Richard Bird also had a good weekend and got on the box with a third overall. It was Gavin Stevenson in the Irish sandwich on the podium.

“The weekend went great, I am so pleased with my riding more so than the result. I was hitting my marks, skipping and hopping the bumps like I used to in my 250 days and my starts were decent all weekend which is the biggest thing for me”, Meara commented.
