MCUI statement: Confirm Ireland will send an Coupe de l’Avenir team

The MCUI Motocross Commission are happy to confirm that they will again be sending a Youth team to the 2019 Coupe de l’Avenir in Belgium this October 5th and 6th

Building on the success of 2018, it is hoped that Ireland can compete again at the same world class level with our top youth riders.

A similar sponsorship package for expenses has been confirmed as in 2018.

After the official regulations have been issued (sometime in June) riders will be invited to apply for a place on the team.

Only riders who apply within the correct timeframe can be considered for the team.

Selection will be by the Motocross Commission, with performance both inside and outside our championships and the rider’s and guardian’s ability to act as team members will be key considerations.

As in previous years, riders who apply for the team and are selected must be available to ride, if not, they will not be eligible to apply for the following year.

Ages change from year to year, but as a guideline, the ages for last year were:

Coupe Open Class;

125 2 stroke – 13 to 15 years old

MX2 – 14 to 21 years old

MX1 – 15 to 21 years old

85cc Class (wheel size big or small)

11 to 15 years old

65cc Class

9 to 12 years old

Please note that we cannot accept applications until the officials regulations are released by the Coupe de l’Avenir organisers, these will include the exact date ranges for ages.

The MCUI Motocross Commission will publish all the details of the invitations to apply on the MRA and MCI websites when official regulations are available.
