Just a few years ago, Matias Vesterinen was pretty highly rated as he was with the DIGA KTM Junior team but after a few injuries things didn’t go to plan.

The young Finn concentrated on racing in his home country last year but did contest two EMX125 rounds at the end of the season. He finished seventh overall in Lommel and eleventh overall in Assen to show he still has plenty to offer.

Vesterinen has decided to contest the full EMX125 series again in 2019 and with a full winter behind him he’s looking for plenty of top five results. The series gets underway at Valkenswaard in just over two weeks time.

“I’m riding for KTM Motorsport Finland. It’s basically a privateer effort but with help from KTM Nordic and local dealer. Last year we didn’t have the resources to ride the full series. We rode in Finland for the sponsors. At the end of the season we did two European races (Lommel, Assen) and they went pretty well”, Vesterinen commented.

“That is why we are doing the full series this year. My expectations are to be top 5 in the championship with a consistent season. For sure, I want to be on the podium too. I would like to thank everyone who made this possible: My family
