Lawrence to ride Red Bud not Indonesia MXGPs?

Lawrence to ride Red Bud not Indonesia MXGPs?

It appears Hunter Lawrence will not be racing the two overseas GPs in Indonesia but he will be racing at Red Bud on the 7th of July!

Sources revealed to us over ten days ago that Hunter is already getting prepared to race in the US next year now his MX2 world title dream is over.

There were further rumours he would be racing the rest of the US Nationals but it appears he will indeed still finish the GP season, re-commencing in Loket (22nd July). But, as he is not in title contention, he won’t compete in Indonesia and will use most of July to set up in the states and get some time on the track at Red Bud.

Red Bud of course is the site of this year’s MXoN race in October and it will also allow Lawrence to acclimatize to the Geico Honda team he will race for next season.

Racer X alluded to the move last week in Racerhead saying, “In one other piece of GEICO Honda news, I heard a rumor today that this team could have an additional, fifth rider under the tent at RedBud. Someone might be hunting for some new scenery a little earlier than expected.”

It’s a pretty smart move from the Aussie who’s head already appears to be focusing on the next chapter of his career while he finishes out what has been a disappointing GP season so far compared to the hopes Hunter had following impressive pre-season races.

Official confirmation of the Lawrence situation is expected soon.
