Lawrence on his Swiss GP podium – it’s good to be back!

PR- After a thunderstorm on Friday night, the track rutted up quite nicely, making things very difficult for all the riders but with another excellent Swiss crowd watching, Lawrence returned to the podium to once again

It was good to see Team Honda 114 Motorsports’ Hunter Lawrence returning to the podium, with was his best performance since his mid-season injury problems. After a hard-fought fifth in the first moto, Lawrence got a much better start in race two and was able to work his way to the front much quicker which resulted a third place in the moto and third place overall. After an injury-hit campaign, it was a good showing from the Australian rider and one that he will hopefully build upon in the remaining four rounds.

Unfortunately Bas Vaessen had an hard week end, he crashed twice during the opening laps in First moto, and despite a good fight to come back he will stay just outside of the points. Second moto will be better with a 12th place despite a strong stomach pain.

After a weekend off last weekend, the series now heads straight to Bulgaria, where the impressive Sevlievo circuit makes it return to world championship action. An old school facility set in the hills of central Bulgaria, this hard-pack track should once again provide another different test for the all the riders, but after this weekend’s results, they should head there with renewed confidence and the excitement of another opportunity to put in a good result.

Hunter Lawrence:
Yea it was a good weekend right from the start when I set the fastest lap in free practice. I also led the qualification race for a few laps which was cool and nice to be out front again. Then in the first moto, I didn’t get a great start, coming around the second turn in about 12th position, but I worked my way through to fifth, however by that time the front guys were gone and I couldn’t catch them.

The second moto had a bit of a better start and like the first race I went to work right away and made as many passes as I could. I found myself behind Vlaanderen for a good amount of the moto, but eventually made a pass on him to get third. This was good enough to land myself on the podium which I’m really happy about. A five-three isn’t too bad, especially as this is probably the first race that I’m feeling close to 100%. It’s good to be back!

Livia Lancelot:
It feels so good to be back on the Box ! From the first free practice we could see that Hunter was feeling good, we made some improvements on the bike lately and we could see it this week end. The Staff is working hard and it is good to see some good results, it gives us even more motivation for the last GP.

The only bad point is that Bas miss a little bit his week end and didn’t finish in the top 10, he had 2 good starts but it wasn’t enough to stay fighting in Front. Everyone is working hard so I’m sure that soon we will have an 100% positive Sunday with our both riders.

Bas Vaessen:
I didn’t feel good on the track Saturday, but we worked with the Team and Sunday I was feeling much better. I had a good speed, but again the luck wasn’t with me. I had some crashes and a stomach pain. I’m overall quite happy with my speed, and the bike  but I expect more than this. Now I’m looking forward to Bulgaria!!
