KTM confirm when Cairoli will return to racing
KTM have revealed when Antonio Cairoli will make his return to racing and unfortunately it won’t be this weekend. The 9 times World Championship usually races the International Italian Championship to prepare for the MXGP season but this year he’ll only race round three of the series at Mantova. After getting injured last year and missing the end of the season, Cairoli doesn’t want to rush his return.
KTM posted the following update on social media:
“Tony Cairoli set to make first 2020 race appearance at round three of the Internazionali D’Italia. #222 will not be in the start gate at Riola Sardo this weekend but is set to compete two weeks later at Mantova. “He has worked well since he got back on the bike but we have estimated that we can grow a little more in condition and our goal is the world championship,” commented Team Manager Claudio De Carli today”.
With no Herlings, Cairoli or Prado racing the opening round of the International Italian Championship this weekend, it leaves an opportunity for someone else to grab the headlines – most likely Romain Febvre or Tim Gajser. Perhaps a pre-season win will do them the world of good!
