In Markelo, Kay Karssemakers had a great day at the first round of the KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross. Not only was he the fastest during timed practice but he then went onto win both the moto’s. This means that the KTM rider will start with the red plate on his bike in three weeks during the second round in Oldebroek.
Karssemakers was on pole with nearly a full second advantage which of course gave him plenty of confidence for the two moto’s later on in the day of 20 minutes plus a lap.
When the gate dropped for the first moto, Karssemakers got a good start and was second on the first lap. Jens Walvoort held the early advantage but Karssemakers took the lead in the second lap and never looked back. The Dutch talent built up a lead over around fifteen seconds before cruising home for victory.
In the second moto, it was Kay de Wolf who had the early lead but Karssemakers could make his move and pull away for the win. It was a perfect day for the Team Youth Pro MX rider as he gained fifty championship points and takes the red plate for round two of the series.
Next race: the Dutch Masters of Motocross will continue on Easter Monday in Oldebroek.
