There will be another Lawrence under the Suzuki awning in 2018 as Hunter’s younger brother, Jett will be racing the EMX250 series in 2018.
Jett made the move over to Europe with his older brother and has been racing an 85cc the last two years adjusting to life outside Australia. Jett was a contender for the 85cc World title this year but unfortunately injured his shoulder coming into the event. Jett tried to ride but was in too much pain so decided to call it a day after free practice.
The normal route for the 85cc youngsters is to step onto a 125cc when they are ready. However, Suzuki don’t have a 125cc so Jett will make the big step up to the 250cc machine. He will be back on the bike in two-to-four weeks when he will start putting the laps in on the bigger bike.
It’s a big step up from racing an 85cc to the EMX250 series but it will be a learning year for the fourteen-year-old and he won’t have any pressure.
It will be cool to see how the talented Aussie makes the transition to the bigger bike and how he performs in 2018. It’s exciting times for the Lawrence family as they’ll now have two riders in the GP paddock!
