The 2017 season marked the Maurer-Gép Husqvarna team first year in the Motocross Grand Prix paddock and they will be back for more in the 2018 season.
This year the team had Brian Hsu and Jernej Irt under their awning. For next year, Hsu has agreed a deal with the BUD Kawasaki team to contest the European rounds of the MX2 World Championship. However, Jernej Irt will stay with the team for the 2018 season and contest as many MXGP World Championship rounds as possible. The main focus for Irt and the Maurer-Gép Husqvarna will be the ADAC MX Masters Championship.
Irt collected ten championship points throughout the 2017 season and will hope to gain more points in the 2018 season!
It’s thought that next year the team won’t run a rider in the MX2 World Championship and that Irt will be the only rider under the awning.
Jernej Irt: “I am happy to stay with Husqvarna Maurer racing next season. We will be focusing on ADAC championship and we will do as many MXGP’s as our budget will allow. We are used to working together in the team and we have the same goals as this year to regularly finish in the top 10 at the adac championship and to collect as many points in mxgp as possible.”
