Jeremy Seewer on the MXGP season break and his start to the season

Despite the MXGP World Championship currently taking a break due to the Coronavirus, Paul Malin and Lisa Leyland still took some time out to have a studio show catching up with Factory Yamaha’s, Jeremy Seewer.

On staying fit during this break in the calendar..

“We had to re-schedule everything and I haven’t rode my bike since Valkenswaard to be honest. We made a plan to keep physically fit, I’m not doing nothing, I’m doing a lot on my bicycle and running. I have a small gym here at home (Switzerland) so I can do some things there. I’m just keeping fit to be ready but we have to build it up closer to race time and of course with the bike. It’s something completely new for all of us. It’s tough because we don’t know when we will be racing again but keeping ourselves fit is fine. We’ve went from off season to off season and it feels like we will have two season’s in a row after that, it feels weird”.

On his best racing memory..

This article continues below

“To choose one, it has to be my home GP, the first year of my home GP. That feeling was just goosebumps and still today. There were like 20-30 thousand spectators just cheering for you when you’re going for the race win, it’s just a feeling you describe”.

First round of MXGP at Matterley Basin..

“Honestly, I think Matterley Basin was the best Matterley we’ve raced for years with the line choices we had, the way the track got rough – it was perfect. My season couldn’t have started off any better as I got the holeshot in the first moto so I continued where I finished off in China last year in the second race. It felt good and that second place was perfect for me, to see I have the potential and that I was ready for the first GP. There’s a lot in your head at the first GP – pressure, nerves, everybody is going to be fit but there’s a lot of many other aspects so the season started off great. I was super happy with my riding but just in the second moto I had some bad luck as I came together with Clement (Desalle) in the second right hander after the start. Two ruts went into one and we touched each other, I lost my rear break so that was super tough so still to get fourth overall was amazing. Of course, I wanted to be on the podium because I think my performance was good enough but that’s how racing goes”.

Second round of MXGP of Valkenswaard..

“Valkenswaard was super tough. It rained so much and the track was so soft and tricky to ride, it was hard to judge with deep mud holes and hard places. I think everybody struggled but it was just bad luck with the weather. I felt not too bad and mentally I was ready, I knew what I had to do but luck wasn’t on my side, especially on Sunday to be honest”.
