The seventh round of the AMA Pro Motocross heads to RedBud this weekend and there’s a British wildcard entry! Jake Nicholls who last year announced his retirement from the World Championship now has free time in his schedule so he’s decided to contest an AMA National which is something he’s always wanted to do.
Nicholls made the switch from KTM to Honda and seems to be having a lot more fun without the stress of GP’s which is helping get the best out of him. The Buildbase Honda rider currently has the red plate in the British Championship so he’ll be looking to hold on to that and win the series.
” I just made the opportunity myself to be fair. I’ve always wanted to do it and now my schedule is a bit freer with not doing GP’s so I just made it happen really. I’m being lent a bike and it’ll be hard work because we have to do a lot of the work ourselves but I just want to do it really”. Nicholls commented on the opportunity.
With regards to the machinery he’ll be running in America Nicholls confirmed it’ll be a stock Honda but they’ll be working hard to turn it into his British Championship bike. “It’ll just be a stock bike but then we’re going to make it like my race bike here so we’ll take our bits over. It’ll be like my British Championship bike”.
“No idea, no idea at all. Top ten hopefully, that would be alright. We will just see really, we’ll go and have fun and see where it takes me”. The main thing for the Brit is just to have fun!
