With no EMX250 Championship taking place at the MXGP of Limburg, the brutal sand track of Lommel needs no introduction, Jago Geerts has decided he will race the MX2 World Championship this weekend.
This will be the Sahkar KTM’s rider first appearance in the MX2 World Championship and it’s only last year he was racing in the EMX125 series. The talented Belgian sits fourth during his rookie EMX250 series but only nine points off third, he will want to break into the top three during the last two rounds.
However, this weekend Jago will be in action at his home GP and it will be his first ever race in the MX2 World Championship. He could be one to keep an eye on as he clearly loves the sand and Lommel is a track he knows very well.
Geerts is one of the riders expected to move up to the MX2 World Championship in 2018 so this will help with his preparation for next year.
Jago Geerts: “I’m really looking forward to my home race in Lommel, its my favourite race of the year and because the EMX250 class doesn’t ride here I can ride in the MX2 class. I don’t have expectations, I’m just going to do my best and I hope everything goes well”
