Horgmo on Matterley Basin

Horgmo on Matterley Basin

Despite a big crash during the first EMX250 race of the year, Kevin Horgmo managed to bounce back for a top three result in the second moto at Matterley Basin.  The Norwegian managed to finish the second moto of the weekend second at the Matterley Basn circuit near Winchester. As a result, the Creymert KTM rider scored 22 championship points to earn ninth overall. Albert Forato managed to win both moto’s on the day.

Moto One:

Qualifying went well for Horgmo as he put in the second quickest time of his group which give him a good boost going into the races. Horgmo got a solid start and he was in the battle for the top five in a very competitive class. Horgmo was locked in a battle with Van de Moosdijk before Rubini started to catch and put the pressure on from behind. Rubini did make the pass on Horgmo but shortly after the pair collided in a scary crash. Horgmo jumoed a little too far and hit the rear wheel of Rubini which was the end of the race for the Norwegian.

Moto Two:

Determined to put the first moto DNF behind him, Horgmo couldn’t have got a better start in the second moto as he had the early lead. On the first lap, Forato made his way around Horgmo. However, Horgmo was very comfortable in second and brought it home for a good result. Despite the first moto DNF, he can be happy with his speed and that he’s had a productive winter.

Kevin Horgmo: After the big crash in the first moto, I am happy to turn things around and finish second in the second moto. To sit ninth in the championship isn’t too bad. Luckily I was able to walk away from the crash so I am happy with that. The track was amazing like always, so I really enjoyed it.

Next race:
The EMX125 Championship gets underway this weekend at Valkenswaard. The EMX250 series will continue the week after Arco di Trento, Italy.
