Herlings plans after injury for 2019?

Herlings plans after injury for 2019?

Jeffrey Herlings, currently out with a broken foot, cryptically wrote the number 108 on his Instagram story last night, leaving many scratching their head trying to understand what he means.

One theory is that it was 108 days to Hangtown, the start of the AMA motocross series, a race that clashes with the Portuguese MXGP round. So does that mean Herlings is thinking of riding the AMA motocross series this season because he won’t be back in time to MXGP to challenge for his fifth world title?

It would make sense if that is the case. With no confirmation on how long Herlings could be out, (rumours range wildly from 6 weeks to four months) he may be looking at different options for his season based on how quickly he can get back on the bike.

If he can be back for round two of MXGP (the British GP on the 23/24th of March), you would think he still has a good shot at the MXGP world title.

But if he has to miss the first three rounds and can’t come back until April at the earliest, effectively writing off his chances in the World championship, then it would make sense for an unlikely opportunity at an AMA national motocross title – but would the top brass at KTM, who pay his wages for world titles and GP wins, really agree to it, with Webb and Musqun already being paid to win there?

The KTM press release was believed to be coming at the beginning of the week, but as of now (Thursday morning) there is no official information update on Herlings comeback schedule since the injury, so are there some changes afoot?

Herlings’ post will only add the intrigue!
