Herlings on his first MXGP win of the season – unbelievable!

An emotional Jeffrey Herlings showed just how much this win in Turrleu meant to him after a season of injury and pain, but the fastest man on the planet showed his desire to win is as strong as ever with a sensational lastblap pass on Glenn Coldenhoff to ensure he won the GP with a 1-1 – and this one meant more than most.

“I made a statement. It’s unbelievable what I came through. In January I shattered my foot the doctor said I would possibly never ride again and have pain the rest of the my life and I came back four months later and managed to win a moto with a broken ankle, and now I’m coming back once again to go 1-1,” explained an overjoyed Herlings.

“I’ve won a GP every year since 2010 and that’s ten seasons now for KTM and 85 together. It has been a bumpy ride this year but I want to thank all the Red Bull KTM crew and all my sponsors. It has been a rollercoaster with a lot of downs but at least we are trying to finish the year on a high note. I wanted to win here with a 1-1 and found the perfect place to pass Glenn and make it happen. Our goal is to be on the podium again for the last round.”

The 2018 MXGP champ said he had prepared a big Instagram post detailing the difficulty of going through what he has this year but he settled for just four words: “I’m back for more.”
