Jeffrey Herlings has announced on facebook that has made a big decision on his career today.
Since he is being forced up to the 450 next year and still having a year left on his KTM contract here are three options which we think he has on the table.
1. Signing a contract already to ride for Honda in 2018. Tim Gajser is expected to go to the USA for Supercross in 2018 and Honda have reportedly been trying to get Jeffrey Herlings signed up very early for 2018 with a big money contract.
2. Herlings has also been offered a lucrative deal by HSF Logistics KTM to ride under their awning next year, if rumours are to be believed. This would work out well for KTM too as it is unlikely Herlings will ride under the DeCarli team and the MX2 team will be full with three riders next year too.
3. Signing another extension with KTM is also another likely option. However with KTM pumping money into their motogp efforts do they have the spending power to match Honda? On the other hand can they afford to lose Herlings, who they have groomed since he was 14 years old, to take over from Cairoli?
