Young Dutch rider, Koen Gouwenberg had initially signed a deal with the 2B1 Motorsports Kawasaki team for the 2019 season.
However, things weren’t going to plan and Gouwenberg thought it would be better to leave the team. He’s now decided that he’ll race a 2-Stroke KTM in 2019 as he feels really comfortable on the bike.
As he’s going to be a privateer for 2019 it means he won’t contest the EMX250 championship but he’ll focus on the Dutch Masters of Motocross and the ONK Dutch Championship in the MX2 class.
“I decided to change to the 2 stroke because I’ve done very well on them in the past and I’m gelling very well with the new 250 KTM. We changed to this bike only three weeks before the first race so I will try to get as much time on the bike before the first race and try to build from there. I’m aiming to be in the top 3 of the standings at the end of the season in the ONK’s”, Gouwenberg commented.
