Goupillon wins EMX250 overall – storming ride for Barr to win second moto!

Piere Goupillon finished the 2017 season tenth during his rookie season in the EMX250 Championship and has signed with the BUD Racing Kawasaki team for the 2018 season. The French rider looks to have had a strong winter as he won the first round of the EMX250 Championship.

Goupillon didn’t get a great start in the first moto but came back from outside the top fifteen to a strong third. In the second moto he got a great start and led the race until three laps to go when Martin Barr found his way past the French rider to take the lead. Nonetheless, the French rider rode well and takes the red plate to round two of the series.

As for Barr, he didn’t get the best of starts in the second moto as he was sat outside the top five on the first lap. The Revo Husqvarna rider worked his way through the riders ahead of him one by one and ended up winning the moto, his first EMX250 race victory and he will be hoping for plenty more to come during the rest of the series.

After Mel Pocock won the first moto of the weekend, it’s a great weekend for the Revo Husqvarna team winning both the moto’s.

Barr just missed out on the podium by a point as Pocock did enough to clinch the last step on the podium. If Barr didn’t go down at the start of the first moto things could have been different but speed certainly wasn’t the issue as he proved in the second moto.

It was a French 1-2 as the young Tom Vialle finished second and fourth in the moto’s to clinch second overall.
