Glenn Coldenhoff interview: I loved racing here!

Glenn Coldenhoff had an unforgettable day at Red Bud going 1-1 on Sunday, even holding off a charging Jeffrey Herlings to do it!

The dutch dominated the event and only a bike problem and eye injury to Calvin Vlaanderen prevent what should have been an easy MXoN victory.

A beaming Coldenhoff told us: “Coming into this event I felt great already, I had seen videos from this track and it’s a real, real track. I loved racing here, it was just amazing.”

He explained the wet conditions made him feel at home too, “the circumstances were similar to what we are sometimes in Holland.” But he couldn’t believe the margin of victory he and Herlinge put on the rest of the field in that pehnomal third moto performances. “I think in that second moto me and Jeffrey had one minute lead back to third so it was crazy.”

And after coming so close to the podium in MXGP this season but just missing out, Glenn said it was a nice way to end his year. “My season was not so bad but I didn’t ever make the podium, I was three times really close, so I was a little disappointed but to go 1-1 it’s unbelievable, it’s crazy.”

Coldenhoff also had some nice words for his MX2 teammate Calvin a Vlaanderen who wasn’t allowed to race his second moto, that effectively cost the Dutch the win after his bike expired in race one while running 12th.

“It is just a shame for Calvin; he could have finished in the top fifteen easily in the first moto but there were some issues and then he couldn’t start the second one. It has still been a great day to be up here [on the podium] and congratulations to the other teams. We were the strongest today. I loved being out here,” he concluded on what was probably the best day of his career so far.
