Gibson drafted in as reserve for team Ireland MXoN
With Stuart Edmonds injured and initial reserve rider Richard Bird taking his place, team manager Philip McCullough has brought in former Ulster champ and current AMCA and IMBA competitor Gary Gibson as the 450 reserve rider alongside MX2 reserve rider, Jason Meara.
McCullough announced the news on social media: As most people are aware by now, Stuart Edmonds unfortunately had a nasty crash at the MX Nationals last weekend re-injuring his right arm which sadly ruled him out of the MXON in Red Bud on October 6th/7th. Richard Bird has since been drafted into the Team, from his position as MX1/Open (450cc) reserve rider, as Stuart’s replacement.
This however left me with no MX1/Open (450cc) reserve rider.
After consultation with the Irish MX Commission members and confirmation from the rider himself, of his availability if needed, I am pleased to announce that Gary Gibson is now the Team Ireland MXON MX1/Open (450cc) reserve rider alongside the current MX2 reserve rider Jason Meara.
Gary has had much success in recent years, and also this year, competing in the AMCA championship in the mainland along with race wins and overall victories in the IMBA MX1 European championship.!
Personally I would like to thank Gary for taking up this very important position of reserve rider alongside Jason, both individuals have shown great speed this season and are worthy of their role in
Team Ireland.
