Geerts update – back for Assen?

Jago Geerts unfortunately broke his collarbone in the qualifying race in Switzerland and had his first ever surgery.

However, the tough Had Belgian is tentatively penciling the in the Assen MXGP for his return as he buds to keep his MXoN place for Belgium with Julie Lieber on standby!

Geerts said: “I made a mistake on a jump in the beginning of the qualifying race. I was thrown over my handlebar and landed on my left shoulder. I immediately knew that my collarbone was broken. In 2014 I broke my right collarbone. Back then, surgery wasn’t necessary. This time it was. I had surgery yesterday, in Belgium. My first surgery ever. Unfortunately, that’s also part of our sport. Surgery went well, normally I will need three weeks to recover. I hope to be back in the Grand Prix in Assen. But only when I’m fit. I don’t want to take unnecessary risks.”
