Gebben Van Venrooy strong in Arco Di Trento!

The Gebben van Venrooy Kawasaki Team had a good outing at the Italian GP. Both riders slotted in well on the technical track and on Saturday, Maxime Desprey qualified in 8th and Alessandro Lupino 15th.

In the first heat, Desprey was in the hunt for a top ten place for a long time, but a mistake near the end dropped him to 12th. Lupino fought hard to get to 14th after a bad start.

Both riders had a good start in race two, and Desprey held his own in the top ten again. In the penultimate lap he got stuck behind a lapped rider in a rut and lost one position. Lupino again fought hard to get to 12th, but likewise lost a spot in the last lap to finish 13th.

Desprey finished 10th overall for the day and Lupino 13th. The team will travel to Portugal next for the fifth round of the world championship series at Agueda.

Maxime Desprey: “Arco went good for me. We came back on hard pack. Saturday I ended up 8th in the qualifying race, my best result in MXGP. I took a good start and then I was focused on my race. For Sunday, I knew the start was important on this track, I did a normal start and came back to 12th but couldn’t pass the 11th placed rider and it cost me a little bit of energy. But it was a good moto. Second moto, I took a better start and was 8th during some laps, I fought in the top 10 all the race but had a mistake in the last lap and one rider passed me, I finished 11th. End of the second moto, was a little bit hard but I did my first top 10 overall in MXGP. I feel good on my bike and all the team Gebben Van Venrooy Racing work hard. We are focused on the next round”.

Alessandro Lupino: We had the 4th round of world championship and I’m pretty happy about my result. I had a big crash in February that hurts my shoulder and makes everything more difficult! But we scored some good moto’s anyway and especially on the last round in Arco, the team make a good step up with change on the bike and technical change. I am really happy about the team’s work, with professional and amazing support!
I am looking forward for the next races.
