Gebben Kawasaki announce 2017 EMX250 team

Gebben Van Venrooy Kawasaki Racing have announced their EMX250 team for the 2017 season and it’s quite surprising. They have decided focus on youth and sign two riders from the EMX125 class.

Bastian Bogh Damm who was already with the team competing the EMX125 series will stay with the team but move up to the EMX250 class for the 2017 season. He was actually a rookie in the EMX125 class this year so in the space of two years he will move from the 85cc machine to the 250cc machine!

The team have decided to sign Marcel Conijn to partner Bastian. Marcel didn’t have the best starts to the season but he started to get going towards the end of the season. Coming from Holland it is no surprise that he is a sand specialist. He is a pretty big guy so the 250 machine should suit him much better than the 125. Conijn will move from the KTM 125 to a Kawasaki 250 so he will need time to adapt to his new machinery.

The Gebben Kawasaki have went with a pretty inexperienced line up in the EMX250 class for 2017. It will be interesting to see how they cope with the pressure of being in a team and how they adapt to the 250.

The Gebben outfit will also run a rider in the MXGP World Championship but it remains to be seen who will be part of the setup.

Marcel Conijn: “I am really happy that I can be part of the Gebben Van Venrooy Kawasaki team and that they give me the opportunity to see what I can do in the emx250 class next year.  The first few times I have rode on the bike, it felt really good and I can’t wait till the season start”.
