Evgeny Bobryshev interview – winning at Duns!

Evgeny Bobryshev dominated the one and only moto at Duns to take the overall win and claim back seven points on championship leader Jake Nicholls.

The Lombard Express Suzuki rider now trails Nicholls by just 12 points with three rounds to go meaning it is all to play for in the British MX1 championship.

But as ever, Bobby is having to ride through the pain with a sore wrist courtesy of some heavy crashes in Loket along with an already injured knee, meaning the Russian is having to show just how tough he is once again.

We caught up with Bobryshev just before he left a sodden Duns facility to talk about the day and Lommel next weekend.

A good day today, just the one race, but you rode very well and got the win!

Yeah I am really happy, I haven’t won since Culham. I had a good moto really, I was just staying in my pace, I didn’t have any battles the whole way except some backmarkers!

The day was crazy with the weather, they cancelled the second race which was good because the track was dangerous with low visibility. I get the overall and get some points back on Nicholls. We still have more races to go and Hawkstone Park is one of the good tracks and I like to race there.

If they had run the second moto you may have got more points on Jake but it also could have went the other way so are you happy enough it was cancelled?

Yeah you never knows, it’s like a lottery you could be on top or it could be the opposite way. Everything could turn.

You had a couple of big crashes at Loket are you dealing with any pain from those still?

Yeah I have pain in my wrist, I think it is tendon or ligaments. Nothing is broken because I check it out three times and still my knee is not so great. I damaged it in Blaxhall after my crash and still ligaments are very sore so I still struggle a little but with the pain in my knee but it is getting slowly better.

Lommel this weekend, so will those injuries make things more difficult there?

I’m not sure I’m always taking painkillers! Lommel won’t be good for all your body! I think on Monday everyone will be struggling to be out of their bed, it’s so rough.

Have you anything sorted for next season?

No, I am just talking but nothing really has come yet that I can sign but maybe I will know something soon.
