Eli Tomac- I wish we could get another swing at them! (GP riders)

Eli Tomac has come out swinging after his MXoN defeat and says he wishes he could race the GP guys more often (he could of course race the actual world championship).

Tomac took a dig at the best motocross riders in the world by saying that he won’t see the GP guys at Monster Cup or the A1, (although GP transplants Marvin Musquin and Ken Roczen seem to have given him plenty of competition over the years!).

“It’s good motivation now. I’ll tell you that,” said an outspoken Tomac in Vegas for the Monster Cup. “I wish we raced those guys more that once a year. I wish we could get another swing at them and keep the conversation going as to who’s better. One thing is for sure, the GP guys aren’t at Monster Cup and they won’t be at Anaheim 1, so they get a nice asterisk on their claim to fame.”

Tomac, to his credit, admitted they got beat at Red Bud but quickly said the conditions played into the GP rider’s favour.

Tomac however had the opportunity to race Herlings at his home GP at Assen in September, returning the favour Herlings did at Ironman last year, but chose not not too..

At some stage maybe the penny will drop that American riders can race for the world motocross title against the GP riders for 20 rounds to prove who the best motocross rider in the world is, that’s literally what that championship is for! Instead, they cherry pick the MXoN (because it’s a team country race and Europe aren’t a team) or US GP where they always have the advantage, or think GP riders have to race an American sport to give Americans the advantage again, all because they won’t race the international world motocross championship.

Tomac has raced the fastest man on the planet, Jeffrey Herlings, three times, all in America at a US GP, US National and MXoN and lost every time to Herlings, so you can see why the fastest man in America would be a little frustrated with the world champ!
