Dutch Masters RD3: Rhenen Preview

Dutch Masters RD3: Rhenen Preview

The third round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross takes place at Rhenen Motocross track this Thursday. After being out for the season so far, Jeffrey Herlings will compete in his first race of the season.

Top MXGP riders present

With more than 25 GP riders in the MX1 and MX2 classes, it promises to provide plenty of top entertainment. In addition to Herlings, various world-class riders will come to the beautiful circuit Kwintelooijen for the third round of the competition. For example, Romain Febvre, who took a podium at the Grand Prix of France last weekend, is present. Glenn Coldenhoff and MX2 world champion Pauls Jonass are also competing in Rhenen.

Men to beat

In the 500cc class, the giant of Arminas Jasikonis is ‘the man to beat’ with eighteen points ahead of Glenn Coldenhoff in the championship chase, followed by Pauls Jonass. In the 250cc there’s also a lot of very fast riders. In Axel, Jago Geerts was definitely the fastest, but engine trouble threw a spanner in the works. Partly as a result, the aggressive Henry Jacobi leads with more than arace lead (29 points), followed by Geerts. Roan van de Moosdijk is also looking good on the F&H Kawasaki, under the supervision of coach Marc de Reuver and could be one to watch out for on Thursday.

Young guns

There’s lots of tension in the 85cc and 125cc classes. In the 125cc class, Kay de Wolf of Jacky Martens’ Factory Husqvarna team holds the lead with only six points ahead of the competition. The difference in the 85cc is even smaller. Leader Karlis Alberts Reisulis is only one point ahead of Cas Valk.

Most beautiful circuit in the Netherlands?

The Kwintelooijen circuit is characterized by its enormous height differences (sixty meters). Many Motorsport enthusiasts find this the most beautiful circuit in the Netherlands. It is located in a beautiful nature reserve near Rhenen. Only once a year does the track open for motorbikes, this year during the Dutch Masters. It provides a unique experience for drivers and spectators. Due to the weather and the good preparation by the MACRO team, the course is very hard, which means that the speed is extra high.
