Dixon on Matterley Basin getting round one: It’s absolutely fantastic

We’re happy to announce that the MXGP of Great Britain will return to Matterley Basin on the 29th Feb & 1st March 2020! Tickets will go on sale 1st November at 12 Noon, with super-early bird prices running throughout that weekend, including Adult weekend for £45, Child weekend for £5 plus much more. “It’s absolutely fantastic news that Matterley will the first MXGP of 2020, the last time the GP season started in Europe was 2012.

This now gives the fans a great chance to witness what must be the strongest line of MXGP riders ever on a track that is wide and encourages passing, we may see epic battles like that of Everts and Bubba Stewart or Herlings and Tommy Searle, or even a win from the likes of Winchester born Max Anstie as he did in the 2017 MXoN. The MX2 class as we know is wide open.

A surprising fact is that Matterley has held more Grands Prix than any British circuit in the last 30 years. 2020 will be the 10th Grand Prix not including the two Nations held there.

As I said last year generally the South has milder weather at that time of the year, so I’m positive for a great event and thanks Winchester City Council, the ACU, Youthstream and FIM for listening and understanding the need for a British GP.”
