Cooper and Cianciarulo on the MXoN at Assen – ready to race for America!

Despite the negativity from the US media, Justin Cooper and Adam Cianciarulo both said they would be happy to race the Nations this year for America if asked to represent their country at Assen.

Although aware of the sandy nature of the circuit, both seemed ready and up for the challenge, in what is a welcome air of positivity from the US riders.

Cooper, currently third in the 250 US National points chase but very much a title contender, said: “Yeah, for sure. It’s going to be a tough one I hear this year. Assen is definitely a brutal sand track. Racing the 450s in every moto is going to be gnarly so I think it’s going to come down to good starts and putting yourself in as good as a position as you can for being on a 250 and just fighting through a whole moto and doing the best you can. If I get called for the opportunity I’ll take it, I’d be excited, that would be pretty cool.”

While 250 championship leader Cianciarulo commented: “Yeah, absolutely, it would be an honour to represent the USA, I haven’t done it before I’d love to get the chance. Maybe we can race the MotoGP track there, leave the sand out of it – just a thought!”
