Coldenhoff: I still have some pain

Glenn Coldenhoff couldn’t have ended the 2018 season any better after going 1-1 at the Motocross Des Nations in America.

The Dutch rider took a big crash at Lommel in December resulting in a compressed vertebra and a broken wrist which ruined his preparation coming into the 2019 season.

Coldenhoff did manage to race the first round but was off the pace finishing 17-18 in the moto’s and not on his normal pace.

Speaking to Dutch media, Omroep Brabant, Coldenhoff has admitted he didn’t take any risk in Argentina and is still in some pain.

“I still have pain. That pain must go away slowly. But nothing can happen anymore, it is not that I have an extra high risk.”

“The only risk I took is that I would not score points in Argentina. But I still grabbed seven points. I am not happy with it. I expected a little more from the results. I did not leave many European riders behind me. I had secretly hoped for more. On the other hand, I cannot complain either.”

Coldenhoff admits only having two weeks on the bike before Argentina has been tough and not enough to prepare for the first round.

“You normally train for three months, that’s your preparation. I don’t have to bet too high. Such an injury needs time. I just hope to get back to my old level as soon as possible.”

“I cannot expect too much. If you are five percent less, then in principle you already fall outside the top ten. I am now at sixty to seventy percent in terms of fitness”.
