Calum Mitchell joins SFRacing

Young British rider has made the switch from Suzuki to KTM for the 2019 season. After spending his first year on the 250cc with the SR75 Suzuki team, Michell makes the switch to KTM for the season ahead with the SFRacing Team.

Mitchell will race the MX2 British Championship and also contest a few EMX250 rounds which will help him grow as a rider.

“SFRacing is the team I’m riding for this year. It’s produced by two local businesses to me, stebbings car superstore and fabrican engineering. I’ve always had a connection with these two sponsors but in November 2018 they decided to step up and create this massive opportunity for me to race at pro level and live my dream under SFRacing”, Mitchell commented.

“This year, being my second year pro and in the British Maxxis championship, I am pushing for better and consistent starts to put me in great spots for the races. We will see what that brings us. Also, I’ll be competing in local European rounds where I hope to qualify for the main race. The rest will be a bonus”.

“I’m very thankful to all the guys around me for making my dream happen and work as with out ktm uk, stebbings car superstore, FabriCan Engineering, gear4 motorcycles, aswracing, shoei helmets, sidi boots, Scott goggles, talon engineering, akrapovik exhaust pipe, city auction group, pro green mx, Dunlop tyres, C.J.Rust, timber services, mec-a-tec and lrdesign it wouldn’t be possible! One last person, I would like to thank my dad for being huge help with my programme. He does a great job of being a mechanic on race days”.

Mitchell made his debut for the team at the Hawkstone International race as he used that race to prepare for the season ahead.

“I came in to Hawkstone international with no expectations. In fact I didn’t know what to expect as I’ve never done an international. I went there to test the bike on race day. After having a full winter training I did feel good. Qualifying was mega for me finishing 17th. Against some of the fastest motocross riders in the world I knew the racing was going to be tough. I kept a positive vibe all day… I had two mid pack starts finishing 24th and 26th with a slip off in race two. But between now and round 1 of the British championship I am finalising the last couple things with my bike so when the gate drops at Fatcats I’m ready to race”, Mitchell commented on Hawkstone.
