Both Honda 114 Motorsports riders in the top ten!

Both Honda 114 Motorsports riders in the top ten!

Hunter Lawrence led the way of the Honda Racing crew with his fifth overall, after two fifth place moto results on a track that didn’t really favour the Australian. Unfortunately he was never able to fight up front this week end, but he sits in fourth place in the championship as the series now has a weekend off before the MXGP of Trentino.
Bas Vaessen also showed encouraging speed after missing out at Valkenswaard with a shoulder injury. Qualifying race was already better than the first rounds. After Two really good Starts and two 11th place finishes for 10th overall. Step by Step he is improving and we hope to see him fighting with the top 5 soon.

Livia Lancelot: “This week end again we improved a lot and we have now our Two riders in the top 10. I know Hunter isn’t where he belongs yet, but i really believe that he will find out how to improve for the next rounds and win some motos soon!
Bas was much better this week end, a Top 10 overall after his crash last week end is what he needed for his confidence. He knows the points to work on, but i’m sure he is going in the right direction. Both Riders will stay at the Team now until the next GP so we will keep working on the bike and hopefully arrive in Trentino with again some improvement. The Staff is doing a great job, i’m happy about how the week end went generally, step by step we will get on the top of the box !

Hunter Lawrence: “I was feeling a bit better than at Valkenswaard despite the track being so fast and wide open. It seems to be a bit of a weakness of mine, these type of tracks, but after struggling in timed qualifying we made some improvements and I thought were much better for the races. I don’t think I’m back to 100% yet and I’m still lacking those explosive bursts that I need to challenge the top guys but I’ll keep working and the next round in Italy should be good.”

Bas Vaessen: ” Saturday went quite well considering my shoulder injury, the physio did a great job to keep me pain free as much as possible. Quali Race i had a decent start and a good feeling on the Bike, it was good start for Sunday.
1st moto i had a great start i was so Pumped about it, unfortunately the speed wasn’t there, and i couldn’t follow the rhythm of the others guys. I lost a lot of positions in the first laps and came back at the end for 11th position.
2nd moto again the start was really good, and this time i could keep up with them which was a great feeling to fight inside the top ten! But my shoulder started to get weak and painful so i had to slow down the last 10-15min. So a 10th overall with my chicken wing is a good result, i’m pretty happy about it and i’ll work hard for Arco.
